Concerning the upcoming EU summit in Madrid where EU members will vote on Ukrainian candidate status, three countries do not support Ukraine candidate status, while seven member states offer an alternative status, according to Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Olga Stefanishina during a June 9 visit to Brussels.
“In total, about seven EU countries – not Eastern European and Baltic countries, as you can imagine – have made proposals for some other format, offering extra-candidacy or conditional application. There have been many different proposals, but, in fact, there are three main countries that do not want to give the green light to Ukraine today,” informed Ms Stefanishyna, who did not name the three countries.
