Ukrainian communities must gain political representation – UWC President

Ukrainian communities should be politically active and create political representations. In particular, in countries on which important geopolitical decisions depend. Political activism will make it possible to promote issues important to Ukraine and maintain a positive image of the country, the President of the Ukrainian World Congress, Paul Grod, said.

“For example, when we talk about countries where the Ukrainian community has been active for many years – such as the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom – where the first settlers arrived more than 130 years ago, Ukrainians are at the root of the political system there – politicians in the parliaments and obtain the highest positions,” the UWC President said.

The Ukrainian World Congress contributes in every possible way to the integration of representatives of the diaspora into political processes. However, for further work, it is worth working to create an institution that will educate conscious Ukrainians.

“Schools, churches, Ukrainian organizations for youth, summer camps, artistic, artistic, sports Ukrainian organizations – the whole Ukrainian world,” Paul Grod explained.

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen newly arrived communities so that they integrate into foreign society and not assimilate, the UWC President says.

Grod adds that even if the community members are not part of the political system, the unity of Ukrainians and active activities are essential. Among other things, with local deputies and civil society.

“It is important for every Ukrainian to take on the responsibility of being an ambassador of Ukraine, to tell an ordinary German, French or Portuguese every day that a brutal war is going on in Ukraine,” the UWC President concluded.
