Ukrainian Canadian Congress meets with Chrystia Freeland on Advocacy Day

Leaders of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) on Oct. 21 met with Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s deputy prime minister and finance minister. Among those present at the meeting was UCC President Alexandra Chyczij.

Today, I met with the UCC to discuss Canada’s unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s illegal invasion,” Freeland wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The meeting took place as part of UCC Advocacy Day. Approximately 50 representatives of the Ukrainian community met with government officials, politicians, and other influential figures to discuss important issues concerning Ukraine and Ukrainians in Canada.

Freeland reminded attendees that on Oct. 17, Ukraine received an additional $300 million worth of assistance from the Canadian government.

“[This assistance will go] to support the brave men and women who are fighting Putin’s war machine,” she wrote.
