Ukrainian Association in Finland to showcase Ukraine at Helsinki Book Fair

The Ukrainian Association in Finland (UAF) will represent Ukraine at the Helsinki Book Fair, one of the largest book shows in the Nordic region, as announced by the organization.

Taking place on Oct. 24-27 in the Finnish capital, the fair will feature five events organized by the Ukrainian community. They include a joint poetry reading with Ukrainian and Finnish writers, the launch of the first comic book about Russia’s war against Ukraine, a discussion with Ukrainian author Yevhenia Kuznietsova, and a presentation of Ukrainian literature.

“In Finland, Ukraine is still largely viewed through the lens of foreign, particularly Russian, authors. Our goal for the discussion is to showcase how Ukrainian literature offers the most comprehensive understanding of our country,” the event description states.

At the Ukrainian booth, attendees can discover new titles from Ukrainian publishers, browse and purchase books in both Ukrainian and Finnish, and engage directly with the publishers, according to UAF.

A detailed program is available via the provided link, and some events will also be accessible online.

The Helsinki Book Fair serves as a significant cultural forum, gathering writers, politicians, artists, and experts from around the globe to discuss pressing contemporary issues. The fair features book launches, panel discussions, and various cultural activities.
