The Ukrainian Association in Finland (UAF) hosted the second edition of Ukraine Season, a project designed to highlight Ukrainian culture and support Ukrainian artists. The initiative ran from Sept. 18 to Nov. 30, reports Nataliya Teramae, UAF’s coordinator of cultural projects.
This year’s Ukraine Season featured four major events: the “Women During War” exhibition, a Ukrainian program and stand at the Helsinki Book Fair; the 8th Ukrainian Film Days at Orion cinema; and a series of concerts by the renowned Ukrainian choir Shchedryk in cooperation with Finnish choirs Tapiola and Cantores Minores.
“Irrespective of the circumstances, it is crucial now more than ever to support Ukrainian culture and represent it proudly on international platforms. Our projects not only help Ukrainian artists to pursue their creative work during the war but also emphasize the resilience and strength of the Ukrainian spirit,” said Iryna Gorkun, UAF cultural projects coordinator.
These events ensure that Ukraine’s voice is “heard far beyond our borders, reminding the world of our struggle, culture, and indomitable spirit,” the association said.
“We are grateful to all the participants and attendees of these events – it’s inspiring to see such strong interest in this important topic,” the community said.
The first Ukraine Season was held last fall, where attendees enjoyed performances by Khoreia Kozatska, Shevchenko Prize winners; the Ukrainian program at the Helsinki Book Fair, including the book presentation of “Call Sign for Iov. Chronicles of the Invasion” by Oleksandr Mykhed; as well as the Ukrainian Film Days.
