The latest military assistance package will include additional High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), even more ammunition and a substantial number of Phoenix Ghost unmanned aerial systems.
This latest package includes about $175 million in equipment pulled from existing U.S. military stocks through presidential drawdown authority and $95 million in equipment from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.
Included in the latest presidential drawdown authority package: Additional HIMARS systems, which will give Ukraine a total of 16,- 580 additional Phoenix Ghost tactical unmanned aircraft systems,
- Four command post vehicles,
- Additional anti-armor weapons,
- Spare parts and other gear,
- 36,000 rounds of 105 mm ammunition.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke with Ukrainian Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov today to discuss the outcome of the recent Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting and ongoing security assistance to Ukraine, including the latest US commitment of additional High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS).
Secretary Austin reassured Minister Reznikov that the United States is moving as quickly as possible to deliver equipment to Ukraine. Minister Reznikov also provided an update on the situation on the ground.
