Ukraine wins the first gold at the first-ever Artistic Swimming World Cup event

This is how history is made: Ukrainian athlete Marta Fiedina has become the first person who has won a gold medal at the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup event held in Markham, Canada, from Mar. 16-18, 2023.

Performing to Ukrainian song “The Magic Violine” on the event’s first day, the Ukrainian mermaid became the best in Women Solo Technical.

The first-ever World Cup gold medal was not the last for Ukraine. On the last day, the Ukrainian acrobatics team won one more gold medal, and two silvers were added by twin sisters Maryna and Vladyslava Aleksiivas in Women Duet Technical and Women Duet Free.

On the medal table, Ukraine stands third after Spain, second, and Japan, first.

“We are so appreciative to see and feel the support from our country. We are blessed and grateful and are happy to see how strong our country is,” Marina Aleksiiva shared her feelings.
