Ukraine joins Toronto’s Warriors’ Day Parade for the first time

For the first time in history, Ukraine participated in the Warriors’ Day Parade Toronto, reported the Toronto Branch of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. “Ukrainian flags flew at the CNE – Canada National Exhibition. Glory to Ukrainian soldiers. Glory to Ukraine!” stated the UCC.

The Warriors Day Parade has been an annual event in Toronto since 1921, to honor the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces. The occasion is an important Canadian tradition, showcasing the distinctive features of numerous Canadian regiments and squadrons, as well as recognizing the miitary personnel of today and those who served in the past.

“The invitation for Ukraine to participate this year is a testament to the strong friendship between our countries,” said Oleh Nikolenko, Consul General of Ukraine in Toronto.

Ukraine fights not only for its own freedom but for the freedom of the democratic world, the diplomat observed. “I am extremely proud that we were able to realize this important project. Thank you to our servicemen for their participation and to the Canadian National Exhibition for this opportunity. … We honor our soldiers and thank them for their protection,” said Nikolenko.
