Ukraine hits Russia’s most advanced Su-57 fighter jet for first time

Ukraine has reportedly fired at a modern Russian Su-57 fighter jet for the first time, according to Ukrainian intelligence. The aircraft was hit on June 8 at the Akhtubinsk airfield in the Astrakhan Oblast of Russia, about 589 kilometers from the front line.

“On the images, it is visible that on June 7, the Su-57 was intact, but on June 8, there were signs of explosion damage and characteristic fire spots resulting from fire impact,” the statement reads.

The Su-57 is Moscow’s most advanced fighter, capable of using Kh-59 and Kh-69 missiles for strikes. The Air and Space Forces of the occupier have only a few of these combat aircraft. “The destruction of the Su-57 is the first such case in history. Glory to Ukraine!” emphasized intelligence.

The destruction of the Su-57 is a powerful blow to Russia’s air fleet, said Air Force spokesperson Illia Yevlash. “Throughout the entire period of the full-scale invasion, the enemy used the aircraft only a few times. Mostly we saw it at a considerable distance from the front line, and we have seen several times when it did apply its guided aviation missiles,” Yevlash added.
