Ukraine destroys key bridges for Russian occupiers in the south

The Defense Forces of Ukraine damaged the logistics routes of the Russians to Crimea from the territory of the occupied Kherson Oblast. The Chonhar Bridge, as well as the crossing over the Tonka Strait, came under attack.

“At around 15:00, Ukraine’s defense forces struck the Chonhar and Henichesk automobile bridges, two key communication routes used by the occupiers. Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Sunday, August 6.

The Russians claim that the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched 12 long-range missiles, most of which were allegedly shot down by the occupiers’ air defenses. However, several potholes are known to have formed on the Chonhar Bridge, and there is also damage on the Henichesk Bridge.

Against the background of Russian statements about “minor damage” to bridges, Ukrainian users of social media created dozens of memes – in particular, that “mice ate the Chonhar Bridge”.

On June 22, the Armed Forces of Ukraine already attacked the Chonhar highway bridge. This crossing is one of the main ones for the Russian occupying forces in the captured parts of the Zaporizhia and Donetsk oblasts, where the counteroffensive is underway.

In addition, the railway bridge across Chonhar was damaged at the end of July. The transport artery is used to supply ammunition and fuel from occupied Crimea to Russian troops in southeastern Ukraine.
