Ukraine and Britain sign 100-year partnership agreement

Ukraine and Britain have signed a landmark agreement to establish a century-long partnership, the presidential office (OP) reported. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and British PM Keir Starmer finalized the agreement on Jan. 16 in Kyiv.

The pact, which includes both public and confidential components, focuses on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in defense, economics, and other key areas.

The Agreement stipulates that the United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with at least $3.6 billion in annual military assistance for as long as it is needed,” the OP said.

London will also ramp up support for training Ukrainian pilots and assist in securing aircraft supplies from NATO member states.

Additionally, plans include increased cooperation in long-range weaponry and investments in Ukraine’s defense production, particularly drones and artillery,” the statement says.

The document also emphasizes enhanced engagement within the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) and formalizes a partnership in maritime security, including the creation of specialized joint flotillas.

The agreement outlines deepened economic cooperation, with a focus on attracting investments, developing nuclear energy, and replacing Russian technologies,” the agreement specifies.

Furthermore, Ukraine and Britain will deepen their cooperation in culture, education, science, and technology, including the exchange of expertise in artificial intelligence and drone development.

The agreement also covers support for at least 100 schools in Ukraine and the establishment of specialized programs between British and Ukrainian universities.

Once the war concludes, both nations will work together to eliminate travel barriers for Ukrainian and British citizens.
