The UK Ministry of Defence reports that the battle for Slovyansk could be the next key battle in eastern Ukraine. Further, according to UK intelligence, Russian forces from the Eastern and Western groups are now likely about 16 km north of Slovyansk. The city is also threatened by the enemy’s Central and Southern groups.
Over the past week, Russian troops probably advanced another five kilometers down the main E40 road from Izyum, facing extremely determined Ukrainian resistance.
