UCCA communications director: Russia manipulates negotiations

Russia employs deceitful tactics in negotiations, saying one thing in private and presenting an entirely different narrative to the public.

This duplicitous behavior has now put the U.S. in the same position that Ukraine has been grappling with for years, facing the same challenges and lies, said Andrij Dobriansky, director of communications at the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, in an interview with EWTN News Nightly.

“I think this is just a repeat of what we’ve seen over the course of this 11-year war. Remember the contentious meeting in the White House? One thing President [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy mentioned was that since 2019 alone, when he became president, there had been 25 instances where Russia broke agreements after Ukraine had made deals,” Dobriansky said.

Washington needs to pay closer attention to this issue, he said.

“After the phone call between Presidents [Donald] Trump and [Vladimir] Putin, two different press readouts were released, and there were decisions made – like hosting a hockey tournament in the U.S. – that weren’t in line with U.S. interests. Similarly, after the discussions in Saudi Arabia, Russia released additional demands that weren’t part of the negotiations,” Dobriansky said.

Such tactics undermine the peace process and show that Russia is simply stalling, Dobriansky added.
