The Ukrainian Canadian Congress and the Alberta Provincial Council invite you to join a book reading and discussion of the historical novel “Black Sunflowers.”
The online event will take place on April 16.
Cynthia LeBrun, the book’s author, will read excerpts from her novel and share insights into the writing process.
“This powerful story follows the survival of a Ukrainian family during the Holodomor, highlighting the strength, love, and resilience of the people under Stalinist repression,” the organizers say.
The event will also feature guest moderator Mateusz Świetlicki, an expert in children’s and historical literature.
“Black Sunflowers” is more than just a novel. It is a journey through history that brings past events to life, making them more relatable to today’s reader,” wrote book reviewer Ryan Frawley.
