The Ukrainian analytical publication Texty.org.ua has researched the main themes dominating the Russian information space from February to March.
The journalists analyzed mentions of key figures, including U.S. President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and former president Joe Biden.
The analysis was conducted based on monitoring messages in Russian media.
“Donald Trump has become the center of attention in the Russian media, surpassing even Vladimir Putin in the number of mentions,” the journalists write.
Kremlin propaganda uses the statements of the U.S. president to support the narrative of Russia’s “rightness” in the war and its attempts to establish peace on Moscow’s terms. It actively shapes the image of the U.S., where Trump embodies the “right” American capable of changing the White House’s policy in Russia’s favor, the publication notes.
“At the same time, propagandists do not forget to turn Europe into a new enemy, replacing old narratives about ‘Anglo-Saxons’ with new expressions that are offensive, such as European bureaucrats and British politicians,” the text reads.
The main antagonist for the Russians is former U.S. President Joe Biden. He is blamed for starting the Russo-Ukrainian war.
“Biden, in the Russian propaganda narrative, is an agent of the ‘deep state’ who sought to draw the United States and the entire collective West into a global confrontation with Russia that could have escalated into World War III. But now Trump is coming on the scene to correct the Democrats’ ‘mistakes,’ change America’s aggressive course, and allegedly ‘reconcile’ Moscow and Washington on terms favorable to the Kremlin,” the text says.
