The Odesa monument to Catherine II was “decorated” with an executioner’s cap and a hanging loop

Activists put a red executioner cap on the monument to Catherine II in the center of Odesa, Suspilne reported. A hanging loop is hanging from the hand of the Russian empress, who, according to Taras Shevchenko, “finished off” Ukraine.

The monument was “decorated” at the initiative of the “Democratic Ax” party and the “Green Leaf” public organization.

“We believe that there is no place in Odesa for markers of the so-called ‘Russian peace’ and, from the point of view of history, there are open facts that it was Catherine during her reign who was engaged in the destruction of all manifestations of the Ukrainian nation, destroyed the hetmanate and completely destroyed the Zaporizhia Sich,” the “Green Leaf” leader, Vladyslav Balinsky, told the Suspilne.

It is characteristic that the monument was “decorated” during one of the many air raids due to Russian aggression – even after Catherine II, Muscovy never stopped trying to destroy Ukraine and everything Ukrainian.
