The occupiers are expanding the “evacuation zone” in Kherson Oblast. Are they going to blow up the dam?

The Russian occupation authorities announced the expansion of the “evacuation zone” in Kherson Oblast, referring to the alleged “preparation by Kyiv of a massive missile attack on the Kakhovka HPP dam,” as Volodymyr Saldo, the so-called “temporary acting governor” of the region, wrote.

“In connection with the possibility of the use of prohibited methods of war by the Ukrainian regime […] there is an immediate danger of flooding the territory of Kherson Oblast, massive destruction of civil infrastructure and a humanitarian disaster. In such a situation, I decided to expand the evacuation zone by 15 kilometers from the Dnipro,” the traitor wrote on the Telegram channel.

Russian cynicism knows no bounds. Saldo’s statement about the “use of prohibited war methods by the Ukrainian regime” and “Kyiv’s preparation of a massive missile attack” on the hydroelectric power plant came out on the day of another massive missile attack by Russian barbarians on Ukrainian civilian – primarily energy – infrastructure.

Occupiers’ announcement that Kyiv is preparing an attack on the dam may indicate that the Kremlin does not reject the possibility of blowing it up in order to complicate the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive in the south. After all, as the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky rightly noted, if Russia “says that Ukraine is allegedly preparing something, it means one thing: Russia has already prepared all this.”
