UWC congratulates the Orthodox Church of Ukraine on the fourth anniversary of receiving the Tomos

Today is the fourth anniversary of receiving the Tomos, which certified the autocephaly of Ukraine’s Orthodox Church!

“We recognize and declare this Autocephalous Church, established within the boundaries of the sovereign territory of Ukraine by means of this signed Patriarchal and Synodal Tomos, as our spiritual daughter and recommend that all Orthodox Churches throughout the world acknowledge and commemorate it by the name “Most Holy Church of Ukraine,” states the historic document.

“By returning Ukrainian Orthodoxy to its historical roots, this momentous event marked the ultimate independence of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and realized the aspirations of many generations of Ukrainian Orthodox Christians in Ukraine and the diaspora,” said the President of the UWC, Paul Grod.

It is symbolic that an outstanding historical event awaits Ukraine on January 7, 2023. On this day, Metropolitan Epiphanius, head of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine, will lead a solemn service for the Ukrainian Orthodox Christmas in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The Ukrainian Orthodox leader will hold the service in this main church of the thousand-year-old Ukrainian shrine for the first time since 1685, when the Ukrainian Orthodox Church fell under the power of Moscow.)

The Ukrainian World Congress congratulates His Beatitude, Metropolitan Epiphanius, and all faithful of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
