On Saturday, November 27, 2021, Ukrainians around the world will join Ukraine and the international community in honoring the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-33, the genocide of the Ukrainian people that, while being a terrible page in history, did not break the Ukrainian nation in its quest for dignity and freedom.
This year, the UWC’s main commemorative event honouring the victims of the Holodomor will be the “Holodomor and the Nation: Multigenerational Effects” webinar which will feature leading historians and experts from Ukraine and around the world. The UWC International Holodomor Coordinating Committee, in its recent address to Ukrainian organizations and communities, called on Ukrainians around the world to honor every man, woman, and child who died innocently during this genocide on Saturday, November 27, 2021, International Holodomor Remembrance Day, with a minute of silence at 19:32 (7:32 pm) local time, lighting candles in the windows of their homes and participating in commemorative events and services in their local communities.
In addition, the UWC invites everyone to sign and share the petition of the US National Committee Ukrainian Holodomor Genocide Awareness calling for the revocation of American journalist Walter Duranty’s Pulitzer Prize. The petition is available here.
Calendar of Holodomor Commemorations around the world:
November 4 – Lviv, Ukraine. Project MARIA: the most famous exhibition about Holodomor starts the Tour of Ukraine. The Maria exhibition has previously been exhibited in Sweden and the USA, and most recently, in Ukraine at the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide (Kyiv) from autumn 2020 to spring 2021. The exhibition and Ukrainian tour are being carried out with the financial support of the Ukrainian World Congress.
November 14 – Los Angeles, California, USA. A Holodomor Commemoration with the participation of invited guests, historians Victoria Malko and Volodymyr Serhiychuk, will take place near the Holodomor Monument in Grand Park. Details.

November 21 – Conyers, Georgia, USA. A memorial service will be held at the Mother of God Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church on the occasion of Holodomor Remembrance Day, which will begin after the morning liturgy. After the memorial service, all guests are invited to the hall for lunch and a cultural and educational program.
November 27 – New York, USA. The Cathedral of St. Patrick will host a Cathedral memorial service for the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-33. It will be streamed live on their Youtube account.
