During an interview with the Ukrainian parliamentary TV channel “Rada,” UWC First Vice President Stefan Romaniw spoke about the 18 four-wheel-drive pickup trucks donated through the UWC’s Unite With Ukraine initiative. Mr. Romaniw also discussed other initiatives that are today’s global Ukrainian diaspora’s focus.
According to Stefan Romaniw, both the pickup trucks and armored vehicles were donated by the UWC in a coordinated effort with both the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the interview, Mr. Romaniw also touched upon a new topic that has united Ukrainians worldwide: the ban on the participation of Russia and Belarus in the 2024 Olympics. “We are calling for this. Yesterday, in Madrid, Mexico City, and Sydney, people took to the streets to emphasize the importance of this topic. The media is interested in this… Our task is to constantly emphasize that this war did not start 396 days ago, it started in 2014, and when we win, there will be a better world for everyone.”
Mr. Romaniv also sees what the optimistic scenario will look like. “When we rebuild Ukraine, then the entire world will want to associate itself with Ukraine,” says the UWC First Vice President, sharing an example from Australia. “For example, in Australia, a billionaire, Mr. Andrew Forest, met with the President of Ukraine. He has established a fund worth $500 million and calls upon his colleagues to grow this fund to $25 or $50 billion.”
