Sports center at Ukrainian rehabilitation facility named after Stefan Romaniw

The sports complex of the Nazareth Rehabilitation Center in Drohobych will be named in honor of the late, prominent leader of the global Ukrainian community, Stefan Romaniw, the organization has announced.

“Stefan Romaniw was a distinguished figure in the Ukrainian diaspora, known for his tireless work for the Ukrainian community worldwide. Born in Australia, he dedicated his entire life to preserving Ukrainian cultural heritage and developing Ukrainian organizations on the international stage,” the statement reads.

Stefan Romaniw leaves behind a rich legacy that will go on to inspire future generations, the Nazareth center recognized. “His life was devoted to serving others, and his dedication continues to be an example for many,” the rehabilitation center wrote.  “As his contemporaries said, Stefan was a person with a big heart and an unforgettable smile that always brought joy and inspiration. The sports complex at ‘Nazareth’ will be a symbol of inspiration for all of us, reminding us of the importance of perseverance, unity, and striving to achieve new heights,” they pledged.

The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) announced that it had previously given support to the center to purchase equipment and for renovation. “The new sports complex will not only enhance physical and psychological recovery through specialized therapeutic spaces for veterans and their families, but will also foster community and resilience – reflecting Stefan’s love of sport and unwavering commitment and staunch support of empowering those in need, especially our brave defenders and veterans,” the AFUO stated.
