Spain supported Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the country’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez signed the relevant declaration.
“Our statement today is already the 21st such document with the members of the Alliance, and this is the majority. We count on Spain’s support for Ukraine at the Alliance summit in Vilnius, and Ukraine is convinced that today there are all the reasons to extend Ukraine an invitation to NATO membership,” – the President of Ukraine said.
Spain advocated the creation of the Ukraine-NATO Council as a platform for strengthening cooperation between Kyiv and the military-political union – particularly in the context of the path to the Euro-Atlantic family. In addition, Madrid supported Ukraine’s candidacy for joining the European Union and expressed readiness to participate in the country’s reconstruction after the war.
“Spain supports Ukraine’s initiative for a just and sustainable peace in line with International Law and the UN Charter and based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as stipulated in President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula,” the joint declaration of Ukraine and Spain reads.
The Ukrainian World Congress expresses its gratitude to the Ukrainian community in Spain for their efforts in promoting the issue of Ukrainian membership in NATO, as well as other assistance and support to Ukraine.
