Situation on the front – June 24

The Ukrainian military has been ordered to withdraw from Severodonetsk to more fortified positions, said Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haida. According to Mr Haidai, it makes no sense to occupy the destroyed city – the number of dead is growing.

Key Findings of the Institute for the Study of War:

The occupiers are approaching Lysychansk from the south and strengthening around Severodonetsk, trying to capture both cities. These successes are unlikely to give Russian forces a decisive advantage in further operations in Ukraine and further weaken Russia’s capabilities.

The invaders continue to try to surround the Ukrainian group in Gorsky and Zolotye.

Russian troops have probably blocked Ukrainian routes along the Bakhmut-Lysychansk route and are using recent successes on the route to intensify the offensive on Lysychansk.

The Russians accumulated equipment and continued to build up defense capabilities along the southern axis.
