Russians use Zaporizhzhia NPP as ammunition depot

The Russians continue to use the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) for deploying their troops and storing ammunition and explosives, the National Resistance Center reports.

Thus, thanks to the data provided by the Ukrainian underground and concerned citizens, it was possible to estimate that up to 1300 Russian Guard units were deployed on the territory of ZNPP. In particular, the units of OMON “Akhmat-1” (Grozny, TOT of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria) and SOBR “Agat” (Penza, Russia) were identified. For the sake of disguise, some invaders on duty use the uniforms of the ZNPP paramilitary guard, not the Russian Guard,” the report states.

The occupiers are using the Plant’s technical and basement areas to store small arms and artillery ammunition, both for the garrison stationed at the Plant and for forces in adjacent positions.

The enemy has laid more than 20 minefields around the city. They surround the station and the city and have a total length of about 6.5 km. The invaders are still afraid of a possible landing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Dnipro. Despite the IAEA mission’s visit on September 4, 2024, the occupiers carefully and pre-planned their route,” the Center continues.

The Russians have repeatedly denied IAEA representatives access to the western parts of two turbine halls at the ZNPP. “However, the organization’s representative office only noted this fact and did not make any decision regarding Rosatom’s representation, which manages ZNPP,” emphasizes the NRC.

In August, British military analysts reported that the Russians were digging trenches around the ZNPP’s cooling pond.
