On 9 November 2017, the International Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation informed the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) that the Russian delegation blocked the participation of the UWC in the 50th plenary session of PABSEC.
UWC President Eugene Czolij had been invited to participate and address this session scheduled to be held on 29-30 November 2017 in Kyiv. However, the Rules of Procedure of PABSEC provide that any delegation can object to the participation of any guest and thereby prevent such participation.
“The objection of the Russian Federation is not surprising as the UWC promotes the territorial integrity of independent countries, including Ukraine, and the respect of fundamental freedoms and basic human rights, whereas the Russian Federation blatantly and persistently violates these principles,” said UWC President Eugene Czolij.
