Russia intends to blow up the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to “destabilize the situation in Ukraine.” In addition, the Russian Federation wants the world to pressure Kyiv to stop the war. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with the American TV channel NBC News.
“Just like with the [Kakhovka] dam, they [the Russians] are not interested in the security situation in Ukraine. They constantly need destabilization here, and they want the world to put pressure on Ukraine to stop this conflict,” the Ukrainian president explained.
Faster supplies of weapons and equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will help stop Russian aggression, Zelenskyy said, whereas transfer in small batches only prolongs the duration of hostilities.
“If military equipment, which is currently on balance with our partners, is handed over to us en masse, we will win faster,” Zelenskyy added.
Earlier, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, visited the ZNPP. Grossi said it would be possible to maintain security at the NPP dam for “some time” after the explosion of the Kakhovka NPP.
