The russian federation requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on August 23 “regarding the situation around the Zaporizhzhia NPP” in order deflect attention from a discussion planned for August 24 on the consequences of russian aggression against Ukraine, according to the Permanent Mission of Ukraine via Ukrinform.
Energoatom reported in Telegram on August 22, that the russian military brought additionally two armored personnel carriers and six special trucks to the Zaporizhzhia NPP’s repair zone, showing that russians are accumulating military equipment at the power station near the 1st and 2nd generators. In addition, new military personnel arrived on the territory of the ZNPP, some wearing masks. In total, more than 40 units of military equipment are now stationed at the plant.
