Russia prepares for war with NATO

The Russian Defense Ministry has stated that its military forces must be prepared for a potential war with NATO within the next decade.

“This is about ensuring full readiness for any developments in the medium term, including a possible military conflict with NATO in Europe over the next ten years,” said Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov at a ministry meeting.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who attended the meeting, accused the West of “imposing” its rules on the world, claiming that this violates “all boundaries” and that Moscow “is forced to react,” according to Militarnyi media.

Earlier, reports revealed that Germany’s largest companies have been advised to prepare for a possible war with Russia. Berlin has already devised a secret “German Operational Plan” in the event of a military invasion, the military news site said.

In November 2023, the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) cited the analytical Center for Security and Defense, warning that NATO has five to nine years to prepare for a possible Russian attack. An invasion from the Kremlin may take place in the next six years if the war in Ukraine is frozen.

At the same time, former U.S. Ambassador to NATO and ex-U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, stated that Ukraine’s rapid NATO accession would make the continuation of the war pointless for Putin.
