The Russian invaders have deployed several Grad multiple launch rocket systems on the territory of the Zaporizhya Nuclear Power Plant, Energoatom, Ukraine’s national nuclear power generating company, reported on Thursday in a Facebook post.
The Grads were placed near power unit No. 6, next to the plant’s site for dry storage of spent fuel, where the occupiers had secretly built a sort of “protective structures” in violation of nuclear and radiation safety standards.
According to Energoatom, the Russians intend to use the ZNPP as a cover for shelling the opposite bank of the Dnipro, specifically the cities of Nikopol and Marhanets.
The company informed IAEA about the “blatant violations [by the Russians] of all norms and requirements of nuclear and radiation safety” applicable to the nuclear power plant operation and once again called for the establishment of a safety zone inside and around the ZNPP after its complete demilitarization and de-occupation.
