Last week, the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit a new milestone of 1,800 burned or otherwise destroyed russian tanks since the beginning of the full-scale invasion on Feb. 24, according to data of the AFU General Staff. Is it much?
According to Wikipedia, the E.U.’s three largest economic powers – Germany, France, and Italy – have 245, 406, and 200 tanks, respectively, or in total, roughly 1,000 less than russia has lost in less than half a year of the war. Even adding 227 tanks of the United Kingdom, which is no more an E.U. member state, will not much alter the overall picture of the extent of the russa’ losses / Ukraine’s success.
Densely packed, 1,800 tanks would occupy nine standard soccer fields, leaving no room even for a minifootball pitch.
