The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) vehemently condemns the latest barrage of Russian attacks targeting Ukrainian cities, civilian infrastructure, and vital energy systems. These devastating strikes starkly contradict Vladimir Putin’s recent declarations of peace, including his supposed commitments made during a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump on March 18, 2025.
Mere hours after pledging a 30-day suspension of aerial attacks, Russia unleashed a coordinated assault involving 150 drones, ballistic missiles, and surface-to-air weapons. The onslaught devastated Ukraine’s energy grid, transportation systems, hospitals, and civilian areas, with Kyiv and other cities bearing the brunt of the destruction.
“This blatant act of aggression exposes Putin’s true intentions and the Kremlin’s continued defiance of international law and human rights,” said UWC President Paul Grod. “Putin’s statements are nothing more than calculated deceptions aimed at concealing his regime’s relentless agenda of violence and domination.”
Grod further emphasized gratitude for President Trump’s efforts to broker peace but warned of Russia’s tactics: “We value the pursuit of diplomacy, but Putin’s so-called negotiations are nothing more than a calculated ploy to regroup and unleash even greater devastation on Ukraine. The only answer to his aggression is resolute strength.”
The Ukrainian World Congress calls on the United States and global democracies to stand firm in their support for Ukraine. Urgent action is needed to bolster Ukraine’s air defenses and save innocent lives. Simultaneously, sustained pressure through robust sanctions is essential to hold Russia accountable and curb further atrocities.
The world must remain vigilant against Russia’s empty promises and take decisive action to secure justice, safety, and enduring peace for Ukraine and its people.
