On 14 July 2015 in Ottawa, Canada, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij.

A range of topics were discussed related to the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ukrainian World Congress and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 28 August 2014, including joint efforts to protect Ukraine’s independence, strategies to counteract Russian disinformation, the UWC Mission to Ukraine, UWC humanitarian initiatives and the 2015 UWC Annual General Meeting in Spain.

The discussion also focused on the threat to the activities of Ukrainian communities in Russia following the submission of a “patriotic stop list of unwelcome organizations”, which includes the UWC, by the Upper House of the Russian Duma to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Justice of Russia for further examination.

Joining Eugene Czolij in the meeting was UWC Vice President Paul Grod.

Eugene Czolij also participated in a meeting with the leaders of Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) member organizations headed by UCC President Paul Grod, where the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed the importance of the signing on July 14, 2015 of the historic Canada‑Ukraine Free Trade Agreement. The UWC Treasurer Zenon Potichnyj also attended that meeting.

“The Ukrainian World Congress will continue to actively work with the Government of Ukraine in defence of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the rights of Ukrainian communities in the diaspora,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
