Russia’s Defense Ministry reported a large-scale drone attack on Nov. 9-10, with approximately three dozen unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) heading toward Moscow. Flights at three major Moscow airports were temporarily halted, the city’s mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, later said.
This massive barrage, despite the Russian Ministry of Defense’s claim of shooting down all the drones heading toward the capital, indicates that Ukraine can and must respond to Russian drone attacks on its territory with its own counterattacks, the majority of which should, of course, target the Russian capital.
There could be long discussions about the proposals from the circle of newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump regarding ending the Russia-Ukraine war, or how the threats or proposals from him will influence Russian President Vladimir Putin, who continues his aggressive war against our country. However, it is important to understand that all these discussions are as theoretical as the expectations of Ukrainians in 2019, when most of our fellow citizens voted not only for Volodymyr Zelenskyy as president but also for the possibility of negotiating with Putin to end the war between Russia and Ukraine at the stage where the war stood at that time.
As is known, the conquest of foreign lands has always been both a political and historical task for the people living within the borders of the modern Russian Federation, and the expansion of this Russian Federation to the borders of the former Soviet Union is an ambitious task that Putin ordered his armed forces to carry out.
In these nearly three years of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the citizens of Ukraine have had the chance to realize that their enemies have no intention of stopping and are willing to pay any price for the conquest of our state.
