Nov. 19 marks 1,000 days since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Just a few days later, on Nov. 23, Ukraine and the world will commemorate the anniversary of the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933. The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) would like to draw attention to the historical parallel between these two tragic events.
As part of our global advocacy campaign “Remembering the Holodomor – the genocide of Ukrainians continues,” we must remind the world of the horrific crimes committed by the regime of Kremlin dictator Joseph Stalin against the Ukrainian people in the 20th century.
Similarly, Vladimir Putin’s Russian regime, as the Soviet Union’s successor, continues to carry out genocidal acts on Ukrainian soil today.
These 1,000 days reflect not only Russian aggression but also the remarkable resilience of the Ukrainian people. The UWC invites Ukrainian communities and organizations worldwide to share their stories of civic advocacy, volunteering efforts, and support, as well as expressions of gratitude for those who have provided refuge to those fleeing the unjustified war.
We encourage you to share your short stories and photos from these 1,000 days – stories that the world must know and that Ukrainians will pass down through generations. Photos and captions can be sent to [email protected] or posted directly on Facebook on Nov. 19, using the hashtags #1000days #StandWithUkraine.
You are also invited to create your own original posters with #1000days #StandWithUkraine for social media. In the campaign’s visual materials folder, you will find a poster design template. This video presentation will guide you on how to easily add your own text, logos, and images.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, rallies for “Remembering the Holodomor – the genocide of Ukrainians continues” will take place. These events are organized by the UWC in collaboration with partners, including the International Center For Ukrainian Victory and the Communities Army of Ukraine.
