Not only Belgorod: Danilov suggests border breaches in other Russia’s oblasts

Russians cannot feel safe while Russia is waging a criminal war against Ukraine. Therefore, border breeches and protests in other oblasts of the Russian Federation are quite likely to happen, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Oleksii Danilov, stated during Ukraine’s national 24/7 newscast.

“Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh oblasts, other territories, other oblats – they cannot be safe because the number of Russian citizens, who absolutely oppose the regime established over the last 23 years on the territory of Russia, [is rising]… of course, they can protest anywhere in the Russian Federation,” Danilov said.

The NSDC Secretary is also confident that this process will continue until Ukraine wins. Danilov’s statement came against the background of the operation of the Freedom of Russia Legion (“FRL”) and the Russian Volunteer Corps (“RVC”) to “liberate” the Russian Federation from the current government.

Russian authorities claim to have defeated the volunteer corps and legion. However, the “FRL” claimed that “FRL” and “RVC” personnel continued to operate in Belgorod oblast on May 23, the Institute for the Study of War states. 

On May 22, two military units of former fighters of Russia, who fight on the side of Ukraine, entered the Belgorod region’s territory. They announced plans to demilitarize the border regions of the Russian Federation and later to liberate the country from Putin’s rule.
