Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said there are signs of a renewed rebellion or revolution in Russia. “More than that, many people might support such a mutiny,” the president added in an interview with ABC News.
The mutiny of Prigozhin, the owner of the Wagner private military company, demonstrated weaknesses in Putin’s leadership. At the same time, Prigozhin’s primary goal was to become a “political figure,” and he succeeded, according to Ukraine’s president.
“Putin doesn’t have a military force inside Russia, and his civilian population is not protected,” Zelenskyy added.
Earlier, on June 23-24, the Wagner Russian private military company headed by Prigozhin tried to undertake a “mutiny” against the current leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The mercenaries reached almost Moscow, killing 13 to 20 Russian soldiers. However, the Wagner fighters retreated at 200 km from the capital of the Russian Federation, allegedly after Prigozhin’s conversation with the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Lukashenko.
