Moldova will arrest Putin on the International Criminal Court warrant if he comes to the country. Maia Sandu, the President of the Republic, announced this on the Euronews Romania TV channel air.
“The Republic of Moldova has signed an agreement with the criminal court, and Moldova will respect the court’s decision,” Sandu said.
In response to the statement, the Kremlin threatened the president of Moldova with a criminal case for threats against Vladimir Putin. Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the International Committee of Russia’s Federation Council, said Russia might put Sandu on the international wanted list.
“It seems that Romanian citizen Maia Sandu, who holds the post of President of Moldova, has something wrong with her head. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has every reason to initiate a criminal case against Sandu, as she threatened to arrest the Russian president. She expects the head of Great Russia to come to her country, whose economy and well-being completely depend on Moscow,” Ukrainska Pravda cited Dzhabarov.
On March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin and the Russian Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, regarding the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
