European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has called for increasing all forms of support for Ukraine in its war against the Russian invaders.
Speaking of the new sanctions against Russia that came into force on Friday, Metsola said she was proud of the support the European Union has been offering to Ukraine but said the EU could do more, Deutschlandfunk reported on Sunday.
“This war must be ended urgently, and Ukraine must win this war,” she told the Funke media group’s reporters. “This means more financial and humanitarian aid for the country, but also more weapons. In addition, a special tribunal must be created in view of the constant flow of evidence of war crimes committed in Ukraine.”
