In Valletta, on June 25, 2022, the Foundation for the Ukrainian Community of Malta organized an action in support of the captured defenders of Azovstal and their relatives. The action took place within the framework of Vyriy Azovrally, a global project that has already held similar events in more than 40 cities around the world.
The event in the Maltese capital lasted from morning till evening. The organizers installed an information board with photos of Ukrainian heroes and information in English about Mariupol, Azovstal, and its adamant defenders. They also distributed fliers in English and Maltese and talked with representatives of civil society from different countries who are visiting Malta during the heigh season and the press.
In the evening, numerous representatives of the Ukrainian community of Malta marched through the streets of Valletta. Holding up photos of the Azovstal defenders, posters, and a 20-meter Ukrainian flag, people sang the Ukrainian national anthem and the song “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow…” and shouted slogans in support of the captured Ukrainian heroes. Passers-by applauded and sang along to the demonstrators.
The event ended on the square in front of the entrance to the medieval city with the joint singing of the “Prayer of Azov” and the national anthem of Ukraine.
