The Council of Ministers of Italy convened by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has unanimously approved a decree extending the shipment of weapons to Ukraine until Dec. 31, 2023, Corriere della Sera reported on Thursday.
To continue supporting Kyiv, Meloni has chosen the path of Parliament. After the Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies approved the unitary motion of the center-right, the Council of Ministers gave the go-ahead to the so-called “NATO decree,” which extends the decisions already taken by the Draghi government that expire on Dec. 31.
By the beginning of 2023, the sixth aid decree for Ukraine is expected on the government table – this time to respond to the air defense needs expressed by Kyiv due to the intensification of Russia’s bombing of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure facilities as winter was approaching.
