In loving memory of Ivan Grod

On behalf of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) and the multimillion-strong Ukrainian diaspora, we express sincere and deepest condolences to UWC President Paul Grod on the passing of his father, Ivan Grod, of blessed memory, on Friday, 2 June 2023, at the age of 99, one month shy of his 100th birthday.

By the grace of God, you had a wonderful father who lovingly cared for you and your significant, close-knit family and played an essential role in shaping the life path of his sons, managed to instill a genuine love for Ukrainian national traditions and customs, and taught them to appreciate and respect everything Ukrainian.

Throughout his life, he was a true patriot, always interested in the life of Ukrainians in Ukraine and the diaspora, and involved in public life in Canada.

Your father walked his earthly path with Ukraine in his heart, working hard to establish and preserve Ukrainian national values outside his homeland.  

The passing of Ivan Grod is a terrible loss for your family and all those who had the honor and pleasure of knowing him. Your father’s bright memories and good deeds will always be eternal, as will his memory.

The UWC leadership and membership share your most profound sorrow and pray for the repose of the soul of Ivan Grod. May he rest in peace!
