Iceland recognizes Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people

Today, the Icelandic Parliament unanimously recognised the 1932–1933 winter man-made famine as genocide perpetrated by Moscow ‘ totalitarian government against the people of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian World Congress is grateful to our Icelandic friends, the Ukrainian community in Iceland, diplomats, and everyone who made this crucial historic step possible.

“Grateful to Iceland for recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people, for honoring the memory of millions of Ukrainians killed by the Moscow regime. It is a clear signal that such crimes do not go unpunished and do not have a statute of limitations,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter.

As the First Vice-President of the UWC, the Chairman of the International Coordination Committee of the UWC for the Holodomor, Stefan Romaniw, said, “We can only hope for a better future if crimes against peoples are recognized.”

Therefore, the struggle continues. Ukraine remembers! The world acknowledges!
