Hungary has announced the alleged “unsuccessful” counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The military’s Offensive operations did not bring significant results, Gergely Gulyás, the head of the administration of the Hungarian Prime Minister, said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated “only” 200 square kilometers of territory, so the offensive “as of now has not shown any significant results,” Gulyás said. At the same time, Russia “captured approximately the same amount in Donetsk Oblast and Kharkiv Oblast,” the official added.
“All this together indicates that the position of the Hungarian government is justified when it calls for a ceasefire and the earliest possible start of peace talks,” the head of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s administration concluded.
Meanwhile, Orbán also repeated the thesis of Russian propaganda. Hungary’s Prime Minister stated that the West would allegedly “fight to the last Ukrainian soldier” and called for negotiations.
“This is what should have been done now. This is what we suggested. The West is not doing this right now. It sends money, weapons. Of course, the Ukrainians are fighting. The West is fighting to the last Ukrainian soldier,” Orbán said.
Hungary’s Prime Minister also once again stated that “Ukraine practically lost its sovereignty a long time ago” and Kyiv “has run out of means” for waging war.
Earlier, Orbán announced territorial claims to two EU countries. The politician called Slovakia a “separated” territory from Hungary. In addition, he questioned the sovereignty of Romania.
In the meantime, the US State Department had reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated almost half of the territories occupied by Russia.
