Germany to provide €7.6 million to search for missing persons in Ukraine

Germany will provide €7.6 million for the International Commission on Missing Persons’ project to help Ukraine find people who went missing as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the German Embassy in Ukraine announced on Twitter.

“The training of forensic experts and investigators is also planned,” the message reads.

The “hotline” of the Commissioner for Issues of Persons Disappeared Under Special Circumstances received more than 30,000 calls since May 2022, Suspilne reports. More than 4,300 missing persons were wanted as of the end of September 2022.
