Eight high-voltage substations in southern and western Ukraine will be restored with assistance from the German government, Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s national power company, reported.
On Saturday, Ukraine’s Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko and Ukrenergo Chairman of the Board Volodymyr Kudrytsky signed agreements with KfW, Germany’s state-owned investment and development bank, to mobilize €32.5 million for the restoration of energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen signed the agreements on behalf of the Federal Government.
These funds will be used to install equipment allowing the substations to be controlled remotely from a central control post.
The renewed substations will be state-of-the-art and automated, requiring minimum personnel and meeting ENTSO-E reliability and safety standards.
