Germany initiates search for air defense systems for Ukraine, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister says

Germany has initiated the search for available Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine, announced Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba following the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting on April 4 in Brussels, as reported by European Pravda.

“[Germany] will immediately initiate an analysis of all available Patriot and other air defense systems, not only among allies but also worldwide,” said Kuleba, reminding that Berlin leads the coalition on air defense, functioning within the framework of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format.

Kuleba added that the country would also analyze “what can be done, what combinations can be built to ensure these batteries are delivered to Ukraine.”

Previously, the Ukrainian minister declared his intention to prioritize the request for additional air defense systems in discussions with allies. At the meeting, Kyiv urged its partners to avoid finding reasons not to supply anti-aircraft systems, as explained by Kuleba.

“One of the very experienced ministers said it was the toughest speech by a foreign minister he had heard in his life. I apologized for spoiling the festive mood – NATO’s birthday, but I felt it was necessary to immerse colleagues in the harsh reality of the residents of Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv,” the minister recounted.
