Ukraine premiered the “Summertime in Ukraine” documentary film on Jan. 30, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) reported.
The film chronicles foreign volunteers who came to Ukraine to fight against Russian forces as part of the International Legion of Ukraine’s military intelligence.
“This is an important film about true warriors – compassionate people who answered Ukraine’s call in a critical moment and took up arms alongside our soldiers to fight the Russian occupiers. Their actions inspire our nation and prove that Ukrainians are not alone in this struggle,” said HUR spokesperson Andrii Yusov.
The documentary was created by Ukrainian filmmakers association member “Babylon’13,” which will donate all proceeds to support the International Legion.
“These foreigners’ stories reflect not only their bravery but also a deep sense of solidarity – key to understanding the global fight for peace,” said the film’s director, Volodymyr Tykhyi.
The filmmakers spent extensive time with the legionnaires, both at training bases and on the front lines, said a Legion representative named Volodymyr in an interview with the Ukrainian“24 Channel”.
“This film shows how people can find happiness and joy even in the most brutal and difficult circumstances. It’s a powerful and eye-opening story that will resonate with many,” he added.
Currently, the documentary is available only in Ukrainian cinemas.
