The Ukrainian community in Mexico, Casa de Ucrania (House of Ukraine), has launched the country’s first interactive course on Ukrainian history in Spanish, the organization announced.
“To create this course, we brought together speakers from various fields – ranging from musicology to law,” the statement read.
The course will feature 34 lectures in total and will run until April. At the moment, participants have access to 19 episodes.
Lectures typically last between one hour to 1.5 hours, covering topics ranging from ancient Ukrainian history to Russia’s ongoing full-scale invasion. All materials are freely available online.
The course also includes lectures by active service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Beyond the course, the Ukrainian-Mexican community organized numerous initiatives in 2024.
These included commemorations on Feb. 24, marking the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion, and Ukraine’s Independence Day on Aug. 24. Workshops on Ukrainian folk art were held as were Spanish-language adaptations and screenings of Ukrainian films in various Mexican cities.
A new school for Slavic-language studies was opened, as well as the launch of a 12-week academic program at the National School of Anthropology and History.
“Educational, cultural, and humanitarian initiatives have become the foundation for fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between our countries through every project we undertake,” Casa de Ucrania stated.
