Germany, Poland and Britain unveiled their plans on the timing of delivery of main battle tanks to Ukraine.
German Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius promised that Kyiv would receive Leopard 2 tanks from Germany by the “end of the first quarter,” according to Tagesschau. He also said that he wants to quickly discuss how to replenish Bundeswehr’s stocks with the arms industry.
Wojciech Skurkiewicz, Deputy Defense Minister of Poland, told Radio Plus he is sure that the transfer of Leopards from Poland will happen within a few weeks. He said Poland is ready to give Ukraine 14 German-made tanks and will begin to train Ukrainian personnel in the use of this equipment without delay.
The U.K. Minister of State for Defense Procurement, Alex Chalk, said the training of Ukrainian soldiers in how to use and fix the Challenger 2 tanks being sent to Ukraine is expected to begin next week, Sky News reported. As for the time of arrival of the tanks in Ukraine, he added that the “intention is that it will be at the end of March.”
