ECU joins international meeting on global Ukrainian community’s support for Ukraine

Leaders of the European Congress of Ukrainians (ECU) joined the international meeting “Global Ukrainians Supporting Ukraine” taking place on August 26. The event, held in Kyiv in a hybrid format, was supported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Business Women’s Club.

Among the topics under discussion, divided into three sections, were the role of global Ukrainians in representing Ukraine abroad, human rights activities of Ukrainians overseas as well as the topic of Ukrainian business abroad.

During the initial segment, ECU Vice President Miroslav Hočak talked about the ECU’s activities, the organization’s 75th anniversary and the importance of consolidating Ukrainian communities abroad on current issues. Furthermore he discussed a variety of ongoing and future projects, including support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Furthermore Hočak emphasized the importance of cooperation with institutions and organizations in Ukraine.

The meeting was greeted by Bohdan Rajčinec, President of the ECU; Oleksandr Korniienko, First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; Dmytro Lubinets, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights; and Gennadiy Chyzhykov, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
